Timascus (Titanium Damascus) is an innovative material, also known as Moku-Ti or Ti Moku for short. Similar to Damascus steel forged from two or more kinds of steel, Timascus is composed of two or more titanium alloys (generally commercially pure titanium and Ti-6Al-4V at present). Then, through heat treatment or anodic oxidation, different color layered titanium alloy materials are formed.
Timascus has the characteristics of corrosion resistance, non-magnetic and light texture. It has the beautiful pattern and appearance of Damascus steel, and has no shortcomings of steel. It is made by placing different titanium alloys in metal boxes, filling them with inert gas and applying heating and pressure to forge the two alloys into laminations. At present, the coloring treatment of titanium mastic leather usually uses heating to achieve color change, rather than anodic oxidation. Of course, all current safe coloring technologies can be applied to timascus.
