Tungsten steel, also known as cemented carbide, is a kind of sintered composite material containing at least one kind of metal carbide. Tungsten carbide, cobalt carbide, niobium carbide, titanium carbide and tantalum carbide are common components of tungsten steel. The grain size of carbide components (or phases) is usually between 0.2-10 µm. The carbide grains are bonded together by metal binder. Binder usually refers to metal cobalt (Co), but for some special purposes, nickel (Ni), iron (Fe), or other metals and alloys can also be used.
The matrix of tungsten steel consists of two parts: one is hardening phase and the other is bonding metal. Bonding metals are generally iron group metals, and cobalt and nickel are commonly used. So we have tungsten cobalt alloy, tungsten nickel alloy. For steels containing tungsten, such as high-speed steel and some hot work die steels, the hardness and heat resistance of steels are significantly improved, but the toughness decreases sharply.
The main application of tungsten resources is also cemented carbide, namely tungsten steel. Cemented carbide is known as the teeth of modern industry and tungsten steel products are widely used.
Cemented Carbide Plungers are used as valve ejector rods, high pressure pump plunger core rods, piston rods, plungers of plunger pumps, etc.
TRM can provide Cemented Carbide Plunger custom work as per your drawing and the composition can be made as per your specification as well. Please contact us for more details.
Plunger Materials:
The materials can be custom made according to your application. It’s typically tungsten carbide with cobalt binder.
Plunger Features:
A basic plunger pump has 3 plungers or 5 plungers.
More strict requirements for the smoothness, straightness, concentricity, and other tolerance.
Typical Application:
High pressure pumps, high-pressure cleaning machines, high-power high-pressure pump groups, high-pressure pump automation systems, pipeline dredgers, high-pressure oil production and water injection machinery, test press, etc.
Suitable for all kinds of piston pressure gauges, instruments, pressure gauges, etc. The piston rod is mainly used for the linear optical axis of hydraulic pneumatic and linear operation.
